Annalivia was established in 1977 and got its name from the book "Ulysses" in which James Joyce poetically named the River Liffey the "Annalivia". Located in Sandycove which is an area of great tranquillity and beauty as well as historical interest, Annalivia is perfectly situated because although Sandycove is quiet and peaceful, it is a 5 minute walk from Dun Laoghaire, a large, busy port town. Sandycove is also, only a 20 minute journey from the Dublin City centre.
The school itself is housed in a handsome Georgian house directly on the seafront within sight of James Joyce's Martello Tower and Museum and with magnificent views over Dublin Bay

CWU -The teachers method
Annalivia teachers are all native speakers, fully qualified and graduates. They have experience of teaching the language at every level, are highly skilled in language development.
Classes are designed to develop communication skills, so the emphasis is on oral participation, to develop linguistic competence.
Tuition takes place using only the target language, to maximise acquisition. Students are tested at the start of their course to ascertain problem areas. They are then placed into classes according to level. All classes are kept to small sizes, which encourages student participation and ensures that each student will have personal attention. A typical class will have no more than 12 students
