Whether you arrive by Greyhound Bus, plane, car, van, or taxi, you will enjoy the western hospitality, the clean air, and the beautiful historic downtown area. The Yakima River runs through the edge of town. You can visit the river at Irene Rinehart Park, a popular "hang-out" during the summer. Ellensburg is about 100 miles east of Seattle and about 27 miles west of the Columbia River.
In the summer each year, the Whiskey Dick Triathlon starts in the Columbia River at Vantage, the bikers then ride to Kittitas before running the seven miles to Ellensburg. At the end of every summer, Ellensburg hosts the Kittitas County Fair and the Ellensburg Rodeo. People from all over Washington and the Northwest come to enjoy the music, exhibits, food, entertainment and, of course, the cowboy competition. Come join us in Ellensburg for your stay in America. It's a peaceful place to study English and make some lasting memories. This is also where all the UESL Program field trips begin and end.
